WHO'S A SHEEPDOG?
“If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath—a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path.” Lt. Col. Grossman -Here at Sheepdog Lodge our main focus is Combat Veterans (non-combat veterans are welcome), Police Officers, EMS, and Firefighters-
Sheepdog Lodge is a rustic log cabin retreat for Combat Veterans and First Responders to reconnect and recuperate
Here at Sheepdog Lodge we envision a time when there is a nationwide community and network of Veterans and First Responders that mentors and supports other Veterans and First Responders.
Sheepdog Lodge is a rustic log cabin retreat for Veterans and First Responders to reconnect and recuperate with their families and/or themselves. Veterans and First Responders that attended Sheepdog Lodge as guests are hosted by our Veteran or First Responder volunteers during their stay.
Our Main Focus:
Our main focus is helping Combat Veterans and First Responders (Police Officers, EMS, Firefighters), serving or retired. With that being said we will do our best to make sure no veteran goes unassisted.
We envision a time when there is a nationwide community and network of Veterans and First Responders that mentors and supports other Veterans and First Responders.
We exist for the purpose of providing a community and network of Veterans and First Responders through leadership, mentoring, and support.
We value each other
Veterans and first responders share unique experiences that only they can fully understand. We will work to ensure there is long-term positive support for veterans, first responders, and their families through the brotherhood that has been created.
We value teamwork
Teamwork is the core of being a veteran and first responder. Teamwork is what gets us through all the hard times in life. We pull together as a team.
We value our heritage
Many veteran and first responder personnel have gone before us and paid the ultimate price on our behalf. We will honor their service and remember their sacrifices.
We value partnerships
We value both formal and informal partnerships with interested stakeholders.
Sheepdog Lodge is overseen by a committee of Veterans, First Responders, and Honourary members. The steering committee oversees operations to strategic planning of the lodge. With out these volunteers Sheepdog Lodge would only be a dream!
